Curtis Jones Inter Milan medical confirmed

Curtis Jones’ future at Liverpool has been the subject of growing speculation throughout the summer.

Inter Milan identified the midfielder as a priority target as far back as January, and their interest only intensified as the transfer window progressed.

Liverpool initially resisted the Serie A champions’ advances, rejecting an opening offer of around £21.7 million as they held out for a fee closer to £34 million.

By Wednesday, though, the picture had changed significantly.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool and Inter had reached a verbal agreement worth a €35 million package for Jones, with the Nerazzurri also settling personal terms with the player.

Jones, 25, made 46 appearances for Liverpool last season as they won the Premier League title in 2025, though he found himself in and out of Andoni Iraola’s plans this term.

The England international has one year left on his contract, and Liverpool were reportedly keen to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now confirmed the next stage of the move.

According to the Sky Sports Italia reporter, Jones has been granted official authorisation to travel to Milan, where he will undergo his medical on Friday before the transfer is finalised.

Di Marzio reported that Liverpool’s formal response to Inter’s offer arrived quickly, with all documents exchanged and signed by both parties.

The confirmed package is worth €30 million up front, plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Liverpool have also secured a 10 percent sell-on clause covering any future transfer.

Jones has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract in Milan, worth €3.5 million net per season.

Inter head coach Cristian Chivu had pushed for the signing, viewing the midfielder as an important addition to his squad.

The move will make Curtis Jones the first player Liverpool have ever sold to Inter Milan. The only previous transfers between the two clubs saw Paul Ince join Liverpool in 1997 and Philippe Coutinho arrive from Inter in 2013.

Academy midfielder Trey Nyoni, 19, is expected to be promoted into the first-team squad to help cover Jones’ departure.

Jones’ exit follows Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure last summer and will leave Liverpool without a Scouser in their first-team squad once the transfer is completed.
