'Huge potential' - Simon Wilson explains why Kieran Morrison will 'benefit' from Sheffield…

Sheffield Wednesday sporting director Simon Wilson has described winger Kieran Morrison as a player with “huge potential” following his arrival at Hillsborough from Liverpool.

The 19-year-old was unveiled as the Owls’ 14th signing of the summer on Thursday lunchtime after joining the club on a season-long loan from the Premier League heavyweights.

Morrison’s arrival at Hillsborough marks another tick on Wednesday’s to-do list this summer. Manager Henrik Pedersen had been desperate to add a right-sided winger to his squad, meaning the teenager’s move from Anfield has completed that particular transfer mission.

Signed in time to potentially make his Owls debut against Bradford City at Hillsborough this evening, Morrison will be hoping to make his mark during what will be the first loan spell of his career. He frequently impressed for Liverpool’s Under-21s last season, scoring 14 goals in Premier League 2.

Delighted to have brought Morrison to Hillsborough, sporting director Wilson revealed that the 19-year-old did not need much convincing to make the temporary move to South Yorkshire.

Wilson told the Owls’ website: “Kieran is a player with huge potential – and he has already represented his country and made his mark around Liverpool’s first team.

“During his time with us, he will benefit from playing in front of huge crowds in a high intensity pressing team that wants to play and run forward, just like he is being asked at Liverpool.

“Equally, we hope to get the value of his quality in his time with us and send him back a better player and a better person. It was the shortest player call we have ever had – Kieran’s enthusiasm for coming here was extremely strong and he cannot wait to get started.”
