Sheffield Wednesday seal loan signing of Liverpool winger

A busy summer of transfer activity has continued at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the loan signing of Liverpool winger Kieran Morrison.

The 19-year-old, who has become the Owls’ 14th signing of what has been a very busy summer transfer window, will spend the duration of the 2026/27 campaign at Hillsborough, boosting manager Henrik Pedersen’s attacking options.

It is understood that the Owls fought off fierce competition for his signature, with Morrison having previously been linked with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, Eredivisie outfit Groningen and also Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The teenager, who has already made his senior debut for Northern Ireland, is left-footed but plays on the right flank. Morrison, who has also made his senior debut for Liverpool, starred for the Reds’ Under-21s in Premier League 2 last season, scoring 14 goals in 18 appearances.

Morrison has become Wednesday’s third loan signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Harry Gray and Mason Burstow from Leeds United and Hull City, respectively. There is no limit on the number of temporary additions they can make, but a maximum of five loanees can be included in an EFL matchday squad.

Wednesday had been searching for a right-sided wideman for some time, meaning Morrison’s arrival at Hillsborough is a much-needed boost.

On completing his temporary move to Wednesday, Morrison told the Owls’ website: “It’s a massive club with great history and even better fans, so I'm glad to get it over the line and I'm excited to play in front of everyone.

“Everyone knows that the rebuild is now and I want to be part of it. It's a great squad in a competitive league but I feel like we can do really well in this league and I want to help in any way possible.

“Henrik was speaking to me and just gave me his idea of what he wants to happen, and he sold it to me. I've just wanted it to come ever since. He wasn't really talking about my footballing ability, he was just talking to me as a person. He wants me to become a better person, so that was eye-opening because I didn't expect it from the gaffer.

“A lot of gaffers don't do that, but the only thing he was saying was, at the end of the loan, what type of person would you want to become. He's a great guy and I can't wait to play under him.

“I want to show to the fans and show to the gaffer and show to everyone why the gaffer wanted to sign me and why I belong here.”
