Liverpool has been told it should keep Cody Gakpo and ignore Tottenham's advances, despite his struggling 2025/26 season with the Reds.
Gakpo has consistently been linked to a switch to London for the past few weeks, with clear interest from Tottenham and the club's head coach, Roberto De Zerbi. The Dutch winger did not have his best year in the Reds' most recent campaign, with the club potentially banking close to $100 million if it was to sell him.
But with Liverpool already having Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz at his left wing position, along with being linked to Bradley Barcola, Gakpo does appear to be available for the right price. However, former Reds left-back Stephen Warnock hopes to see him stay.

Speaking to PariuriX.com, Warnock said: "To be honest with you, I'd want to keep him. I know a lot of people say he's a one-trick pony, but I think for a player to come on and score the goals he scores, and have an impact in the game.
"He might have other ideas, like playing more first-team football. But Liverpool are short on numbers, the squad depth isn't quite there.
"So why are you getting rid of players? Is it to try and balance the books? Is it the money you spent last year to reinvest in the squad?"

"I think the squad looks threadbare. I think it still looks light. As you go deeper into the season, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, you've got to have more bodies on the pitch and be able to tactically change the game.
"I think the nice thing about Gakpo is that he can play as a center-forward, and he can play on the left or the right. I think he's happy in any of those positions and it's a huge asset to have someone like that in the squad.
"You know you've got that flexibility with him, as he's a big powerful player and you do need him a central midfielder, and you are short in there, then you've got the option of fielding him there.
"I wouldn't be too keen on getting rid of him, if I'm being completely honest unless you've got one or two coming in."
Whether Liverpool is indeed short at the position is an interesting debate. Andoni Iraola is reportedly looking to move Ngumoha to the right wing, while also stating he wants his wingers to play off both flanks.

The club has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, in what could be a double move alongside Barcola.
While talks remain, the Reds do not appear too close to bringing in either at this point.
Gakpo is looking increasingly likely to stay with Liverpool, with Spurs reportedly looking at a double move from Manchester City, while holding interest in wingers Savinho and Omar Marmoush.
