West Ham have agreed to sign Manchester City midfielder Divine Mukasa on loan, with a medical set tot ake place on Thursday.
West Ham are picking up their transfer business and have more deals in the works as the end of the summer window nears. WHUFC have until September 1st to get their desired signings through the door, and the next arrival is set to be Divine Mukasa.
After ExWHUemployee first reported talks, Fabrizio Romano states a deal is in place between the Hammers and Manchester City over the loan transfer of Mukasa. The deal will not include any buy option, and the 18-year-old will undergo his medical today after City green-lighted the move.

Mukasa was born in London and started out in the Irons’ youth setup before moving to Manchester City in 2023. He spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Leicester City.

Mukasa marks another welcome addition to the WHUFC midfield ranks. He follows Arne Engels through the doors while Soungoutou Magassa and Edson Alvarez look destined to head elsewhere.
Since leaving West Ham as a youngster, Mukasa has cemented himself among Manchester City’s top prospects. He was a real standout at U18s level and adjusted to U21s football well, setting him up for a breakthrough in the senior game.
Still only 18, he managed two goals and three assists in 16 games for a struggling Leicester City side last season. There were criticisms of his displays at times at a frankly miserable King Power Stadium through their relegation campaign, but Mukasa showed he has got the ability to contribute despite his youth.
The teenager primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but is adept at dropping into a no.8 role as well. He has excellent dribbling and close control, and as would be expected from a prospect reared in the City ranks, offers a creative threat with great vision and passing.

The Verdict: West Ham realise loan market value with Mukasa return
As Mukasa checks in, it shows West Ham are ready to put the loan market to use in the Championship.
Of course, it can provide deals of value in the Premier League too. However, loans are central to the recruitment plans of EFL clubs, allowing them to land talented young players eager to impress who may be out of their reach on permanent deals.
Given the delay of the FIFA World Cup and pre-season, loan deals like Mukasa to WHUFC will start to pick up over the final weeks of the window. Eyes will be peeled for who the Football League’s next breakout loan star will be, and Mukasa will be among those eager to impress.
