As the window enters the final two weeks, Liverpool is set to announce some potential exits on loan, with one forgotten star preparing for a move elsewhere.

Liverpool is set to seal a loan exit for Calvin Ramsay that will effectively bring an end to the defender's career with the club moving forward.

The 23-year-old has spent four years with the Reds, after the club paid roughly $5.7 million to land the Scottish youngster from Aberdeen in 2022.

In that time, he has found regular first-team minutes hard to come by, with several loan spells agreed in recent seasons to give him an opportunity to grow and progress.

Ramsay has featured for four different clubs in those years, ranging from Championship and League One opportunities to a return to Scotland.

In those four loan spells, however, he has managed just 26 appearances, as injuries and a lack of form have prevented him from kicking on and fulfilling his potential.

That led to a crossroads this summer, with Ramsay entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, while doubts have persisted over his ability to feature in the senior team moving forward.

With that in mind, The Athletic reports that the defender is set to join Scottish side St. Mirren on loan for the upcoming campaign.

It's a move that comes without a contract extension beforehand, meaning Ramsay's career with Liverpool has effectively come to an end, with just four appearances for the club in the four years he has spent there.

It also ends any faint hope that the star could be the solution to right-back issues that the Reds have faced in the past 12 months, that could carry into the new season.

Injury issues for Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have left the right-back position light on numbers over the past season, with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones required to fill in there at times.

That was despite Ramsay being available last campaign, with Arne Slot overlooking him with a brutal claim made on his availability within the team.

"When someone is really unlucky with injuries, there is always someone who benefits and Calvin is one of those," Slot said in January on the defender. "But I still think I have better options to play, but at the moment I am running out of options.

"He has shown in that one game against Palace and when he trained with us that he is good enough to be in and around our players, then sometimes you have to wait for a chance to show this to the rest of the world, but at this moment I have - in my opinion - still better options."

That appeared to be a huge blow for the star, and while Andoni Iraola could've offered him a way back in, the manager is seemingly open to an exit with the loan move now on the way.

That will bring an end to Ramsay's time at Liverpool, where he hasn't quite reached the heights expected of him.
