Curtis Jones is set to undergo his medical in Milan, on a day that has also seen Liverpool’s bid for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected.
Curtis Jones set for Inter medical
Yesterday, it was reported that the Reds and Inter had reached an agreement over the transfer of Jones, in a deal worth roughly £30 million.
Now, the 25-year-old is set for a medical in Milan, as he makes the next big step towards becoming an Inter player.
But frustratingly for Liverpool fans, the Daily Mail‘s Lewis Steele says there is no plan to replace Jones, with a move for Adam Wharton off the table, as confirmed by Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage earlier.
“We did it (sold players) and now it’s not the moment to do that. He is able to play in another club, a big club, here or anywhere in Europe,” Sage said.

“But one year with us and a new dynamic will be good for him. We need him and that’s why he will stay with us. I hope he continues his improvement.”
It seems a strange stance for Liverpool to take, needlessly giving them a lack of depth should a key midfielder pick up a long-term injury.
All of the Reds’ rivals have strengthened, with Arsenal signing Bruno Guimaraes, Man City bringing in Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Man United snapping up Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and possibly Carlos Baleba.
City also reportedly want Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, while the Blues have brought in Morgan Rogers in a big-money move.

On this day in 2004, Liverpool completed the double signing of Spanish pair Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia.
Alonso arrived from Real Sociedad, coming in as a young midfielder with a growing reputation, while Garcia joined from Barcelona.
Both players were integral under Rafa Benitez, winning the Champions League together in 2005, with the duo still loved to this day.
Alonso is one of Liverpool’s best midfielders of the Premier League era, and Garcia was the man for the big occasion, not least when scoring his ‘ghost goal’ at home to Chelsea!
