Brighton star Yankuba Minteh is wanted by Liverpool, with Andoni Iraola's side aiming to sign a winger before the summer transfer window closes in just 11 days' time

Liverpool have seen a shock £50million bid for Yankuba Minteh rejected by Brighton. Minteh, 22, has quickly emerged as a target amid the Reds' ongoing search for a winger.
The Gambia international is understood to be keen on a move to Anfield, although he's currently injured and faces eight more weeks on the sidelines. That didn't deter Liverpool, who made an offer for Minteh in an effort to strengthen their attack.
But as reported by the Liverpool ECHO, Brighton have turned it down. It's unclear whether Liverpool will return with an improved offer or go after alternative targets, such as Paris Saint-Germain duo Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
New Reds boss Andoni Iraola has made no secret of his desire to sign a winger, with Mo Salah having left in June. Cody Gakpo could also depart amid interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham.
Minteh has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 73 appearances for Brighton since joining the Seagulls from Newcastle for £30m in the summer of 2024. Those appearances have largely come from the right wing, although he's also able to play on the left.
Liverpool's bid for Minteh comes just over 24 hours after it emerged that Brighton are close to selling Carlos Baleba to Manchester United in a deal likely to be worth more than £65m. The Seagulls have also lost Danny Welbeck to Chelsea this summer, so prising the 22-year-old, who's under contract until 2029, away from the Amex could prove a difficult task.

But Liverpool are intent on bolstering their forward line, with Iraola saying during their pre-season tour last month: "There are obvious situations where we need to sign players.
"Winger for example, we definitely need to sign a winger, but there are other situations where we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what is the cost, how we also see the players we have.
"We have some tricky positions where we have injured players that we trust, but it is still not the ideal situation, so it will depend on a lot of things."
