Chelsea have made some terrible signings since BlueCo bought the club from Roman Abramovich in 2022. Some players have been signed and sold without even playing once.
Gaga Slonina joined the club four years ago and is yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea. It is a prime example of BlueCo’s issues treating players as commodities, failing to see the bigger picture.

But the long-term effects of BlueCo’s ownership in the transfer market continue to have an impact. Players are still on the books who have no business being at Chelsea, and one is Deivid Washington.
Offers on the table for Deivid Washington as exit draws close
Bought in 2023 for £17m from Santos, many felt it could be the second coming of Neymar given the club he was signed for. Two years on, and he is yet to play for Chelsea. A loan return to Santos ended in failure.
Reports said that Deivid might take up the third and final loan spot at Strasbourg, after Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen. But now, reporter Santi Aouna claims there are permanent offers on the table for Deivid.

Posting on X, Aouna reported that Deivid is the subject of offers from Strasbourg and Spanish side Sevilla, while Marseille have made an enquiry to land the 21-year-old. It is unclear how much Chelsea want.
“OM has made inquiries about Deivid Washington. The Brazilian has looked into OM, the city, and the club with Luis Henrique. Strasbourg and Sevilla have already submitted an official offer to Chelsea.”
What would be the book value of Deivid Washington right now?
Bought for £17m in 2023, Washington is three years into the five-year player amortisation period. The fee might have seemed a bargain at the time. Ultimately, it is a sign of just how badly BlueCo have it wrong.
That means each year is worth £3.4m on his contract, and now, three years into that period, Deivid is, so far, £10.2m into his £17m fee. It means anything above £6.8m received for Deivid would be a profit.
Whether any club is actually willing to part with £6.8m or more for Deivid remains to be seen, especially given he has not played regular senior football since leaving Santos permanently back in 2023.
