Arthur Okonkwo has joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan from Wrexham. The 24-year-old former Arsenal academy goalkeeper becomes the Addicks’ eighth signing of the summer.
Okonkwo kept 46 clean sheets in 121 games for Wrexham after initially joining on loan in 2023 and making the move permanent a year later. He played 39 Championship matches last season but was left out of the match-day squad for Wrexham’s opening game against Cardiff City.

Charlton managing director James Rodwell said: “Arthur is a further reflection of the calibre of player we’re attracting during our second season back in the Championship. He’s an outstanding goalkeeper with proven ability, and we’re excited to see the impact he can make for the club over the course of the campaign.”
The Nigerian international will compete for the starting spot as Charlton look to establish themselves back in the Championship. Supporters of both his former and new clubs will follow his progress with interest.
