Dwyane Wade does not merely expect Victor Wembanyama to become one of basketball’s brightest stars. He wants the San Antonio Spurs phenom to build the type of career fans will discuss for generations.
“I want Wemby to be so great,” Wade said during a podcast appearance. “Like, I want him to win five, six, whatever, how many rings, or Finals MVPs, and regular season MVPs. Like, I want to live and say I saw that.”
Wade’s comments capture the fascination surrounding Wembanyama. Instead of treating the young star’s rise as a threat to previous generations, he wants a front-row seat if Wembanyama reaches basketball’s highest tier.

Wembanyama’s Reported Growth Adds to the Intrigue
The Spurs officially listed Wembanyama at 7 feet 4 inches before the 2025-26 season, although some insiders continued to argue that the measurement understated his actual height, Yahoo reports.
Now, another unconfirmed report has pushed that conversation even further. A popular basketball account on X claimed Wembanyama added two inches this summer and now stands 7 feet 7 with an 8-foot-3 wingspan.
If accurate, the new measurement would place him alongside former 7-foot-7 giants Gheorghe Muresan and Manute Bol. The comparison ends with their height, however. Neither former player entered an MVP race during his career, while Wembanyama projects to remain part of that discussion for years, even though he has not won the award.
The reported wingspan sounds equally absurd. At that size, even the idea of Wembanyama dunking without jumping no longer feels like a wild exaggeration.
Wade wants to witness unprecedented greatness. If the latest measurements hold up, Wembanyama may have become even more difficult to stop.
