When is the FPL deadline and why was it moved?
When is the FPL deadline?: The deadline for those playing fantasy Premier League football is 90 minutes before the first game of every Gameweek. This means it will change every week depending on games being played on Friday or Saturday, alongside European commitments midweek and TV rights moving kick-off times around.
Why was it moved?: The previous deadline used to be an hour before the first game kicked off. However, this was changed as team news was being leaked before the cut-off for making transfers in and out of your team.
Team news change: Premier League teams previously weren't allowed to release their starting XIs and substitutes any earlier than an hour before kick-off. But a change in the rules last season allowed clubs to post their team news up to 75 minutes before the first whistle.
Tonight's deadline: Arsenal kick off against Coventry City at 8pm. This means that, based on the above information, the deadline for Gameweek 1 is 6.30pm on Friday evening.
