Newcastle United new boy Amar Dedic will likely be thrown into the backline against Liverpool.
Matthias Jaissle has declared that new signing Amar Dedic “is ready” to start for Newcastle United against Liverpool.
Toon chiefs completed a £30million deal for the Bosnian international on Tuesday. A full-back was a top priority for the Magpies after losing Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett in June.
Tino Livramento - expected to miss the Liverpool clash - struggling with fitness woes also piled the pressure on Newcastle’s need for reinforcements. Given his arrival from Benfica just days ago, fans have questioned whether Dedic will start on Sunday.

Jaissle has now insisted that the 24-year-old - who he managed at Red Bull Salzburg - is ready to make an immediate impact. He told reporters: “I think Amar is a perfect fit in addition to the squad. He can play both full-backs positions. Even in the youth he played also a couple of times centre-back.

“He's versatile in his approach. He knows the playing style due to our time together in Salzburg, which is always beneficial, especially when you don't have too much time to train. He's ready.”
The German also delivered a message to Newcastle fans ahead of the new campaign - urging “togetherness” for the upcoming season. Jaissle added: “Belief and consistency in the approach, how they support us.
“I'm a big, big, big fan of what I saw already, and I will be an even bigger fan when I feel it now on Sunday. So the togetherness, all in, all together. I say that now (and said that) a couple of times in the last few days. I think that could be the biggest message and the biggest benefit for this season.”
