Chelsea midfielder Vera Jones has completed a season-long loan move to Women’s Super League 2 side Watford as she looks to continue her development away from Stamford Bridge.
The move represents the second loan spell of Jones’ young career, with the midfielder having spent the 2025/26 campaign with Bristol City. During her time with the club, she made 22 appearances and gained valuable experience of senior football.
Jones has now been given another opportunity to continue her progression with Watford, where she will hope to play regularly and take another important step towards establishing herself as a first-team player at Chelsea.
The midfielder’s temporary departure comes shortly after she committed her long-term future to the Blues by signing a new contract that will keep her at the club until at least 2029.
That long-term agreement highlights the faith Chelsea continue to have in Jones and her potential, despite the decision to send her out on loan for the upcoming campaign.
For Jones, regular first-team football will be the priority at Watford. Having already experienced a season in the senior game with Bristol City, the latest move should provide her with another chance to develop both physically and tactically while taking on greater responsibility in midfield.
Jones has also represented England at youth level and was most recently involved with the Under-20s, underlining her status as one of the promising young players progressing through the domestic game.
