Chelsea have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for Axel Disasi to move on loan at Crystal Palace, however this has seen the Blues miss out on significant money this summer.
Disasi is clearly not in Xabi Alonso’s plans at Stamford Bridge, having not featured for the club again during pre-season.
There had been more optimism about finding a permanent suitor for the Frenchman after he impressed on loan at West Ham last season.
Where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League in 2026/27?
Let's hear how you think Xabi Alonso will get on this season…
Axel Disasi joining Crystal Palace is bad news for Chelsea
Despite their relegation, the Hammers were keen on signing Disasi on a permanent deal, even agreeing a deal in principle for the player for a transfer.
However, it has become clear he was not prepared to make the move down a division, forcing Chelsea to settle for a loan fee from Crystal Palace.

It has become clear that the £39m addition of Disasi from Monaco has been one of the worst pieces of business the club have completed in recent years, although there was a chance this summer to make some money back on him.
When he returns from his loan at Palace, he will have just one year left on his Chelsea contract, making him even less of an attractive option in the transfer market for potentially interested clubs.
Ultimately, it looks as if the club may now have to prepare for losing him on a free, bringing to an end a very poor six-year career as a Chelsea player.

Disasi deal also puts end to perfect Josh Acheampong loan
Crystal Palace are only allowed to loan one player from Chelsea this summer, meaning they will not be bringing in Josh Acheampong during this transfer window.
This is despite Palace and Chelsea discussing Acheampong during the deal for Maxence Lacroix, as well as the potential signing of Adam Wharton.
Minutes look difficult for the youngster to achieve this season with the Blues not in Europe, despite the fact that they are going to be playing in a back three.
With Acheampong reportedly wanting to explore his options, he will be gutted to see one of the best opportunities he had on the table taken away by Disasi.
