Liverpool are expected to table a new, improved offer for Brighton right winger Yankuba Minteh, after their initial bid of £50 million was rejected this week.
Minteh has emerged as the next target for Liverpool as they look to add two wingers to Andoni Iraola‘s squad before the end of the transfer window.
As talks continue over Paris Saint-Germain‘s Bradley Barcola – the priority for the left wing – a more scattergun approach appears to be playing out for the opposite flank.
After an approach for Barcola’s PSG team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye, The Athletic reported on Thursday that a £50 million bid had been made for Minteh.
While Brighton rejected that offer, the Mail‘s Lewis Steele writes that Liverpool are expected to return with a new proposal in the coming days.

This comes with Mbaye deemed “too expensive,” despite previous interest from Aston Villa suggesting, via The Athletic‘s Andy Jones, that he would also be available for around £50 million.
Liverpool may simply value Minteh higher than they do Mbaye, which is seemingly evident as they plan to put together an improved bid for the 22-year-old.
Following his report on the situation, The Athletic’s Brighton reporter Andy Naylor wrote on X that the Gambian’s move to Anfield would “probably end up happening” as the offer of £50 million is “not that far away from making sense.”
Minteh is currently sidelined until October after undergoing surgery on a leg injury suffered in a 3-0 friendly win over AS Roma earlier this month.

That has not deterred Liverpool, who are hoping to have five wingers as part of Iraola’s squad, including Barcola, Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and potentially Lewis Koumas.
Deals for Barcola and another winger, possibly Minteh, could open Cody Gakpo up for a move to Tottenham, who hold a strong interest alongside their pursuit of Man City duo Savinho and Omar Marmoush.
Market value projections for Brighton‘s No. 22 range from around £39 million to £42 million, but he is under contract until 2029 and his club will demand a premium.
Brighton have already signed Nigerian right winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK this summer for £21.5 million, while Diego Gomez started in the role in their first game of the season in midweek having signed a new five-year contract.
