The majority of Evertonians who took part in our pre-season poll believe Everton will have a better season this time around - while the second largest percentage think, like the club's CEO Angus Kinnear, that European football can be achieved.
The Blues had a glorious chance to bring continental competition to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time last season. But a seven-match winless run to end the campaign, culminating in disappointing defeats to Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur, ultimnately ensured they finished 13th.
Kinnear this week told BBC Radio Merseyside that the club's owners, The Friedkin Group, viewed that as a "failure", and added: "European football, we have shown, is eminently achievable, because we came so close.
"When we inherited the club I think we had 12 players under contract so last summer the rebuild was really challenging. The club had relied on too many loan players, probably too many older players and there was significant work to be done.

"This summer the work is still significant, but I think we are in a better place, we are coming off a higher base so everybody is thinking about how we mount a challenge for Europe and don’t fade in the last critical matches."
Everton have added five new signings to their squad over the summer - a number which includes Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George, whose loans were made permanent - but they still desperately need a new right-back while many supporters would say a new striker is just as pressing.
And it's against that backdrop that we have been asking ECHO readers: Where do you think Everton will finish this season?
Nearly 10,000 readers voted in our poll and these are the results:
5% believe the Blues will finish in the top five, which would likely bring Champions League football, while 27% think they will finish in the European places, which appears to be the target for the Friedkins.
The majority - 38% - believe a top-10 finish for the first time since 2021 is achievable, while 25% feel David Moyes' men will finish between 10th and 15th.
Only 5% say Everton will face a battle to survive and finish 15th-20th.
The Blues get their Premier League campaign under way on Saturday (August 22) when they play host to Crystal Palace.
