Coventry City have been busy this summer and their transfer activity looks set to continue ahead of Friday's Premier League opener at Arsenal

Coventry City are reportedly close to signing goalkeeper Daniel Bentley from Wolverhampton Wanderers. It comes after previous interest from Premier League champions Arsenal two years ago.
The Sky Blues face Mikel Arteta's side in their first top-flight fixture since 2001 on Friday night (8pm). Coventry manager Frank Lampard has transformed the club since taking over at the CBS Arena in November 2024, when they sat 17th in English football's second-tier.
And now the West Midlands club are looking forward to Premier League football after a busy summer of transfers. Eight players have arrived at Coventry, including the likes of Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and Taiwo Awoniyi.
The work being done behind the scenes on transfers does not look set to end either. TalkSPORT claim that Wolves shot-stopper Bentley is being eyed as a backup keeper for Lampard's team.

It is claimed that a deal is expected to be confirmed on Friday. Wolves rejected a £50,000 bid from Arsenal for the keeper in July 2024.
The Gunners looked to sign him as backup to David Raya at the time. Bentley, who joined Wolves from Bristol City in January 2023, has made 12 Premier League appearances across his career.
The Englishman has started Wolves' opening two matches of 2026/27, firstly against Port Vale in the EFL Cup and then Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last week.

That has been a consequence of Jose Sa becoming the backup ahead of a likely exit and Sam Johnstone being sidelined through injury. The 33-year-old will depart Wolves after making just 17 appearances across a three-and-a-half-year stint at Molineux.
He is expected to act as deputy to Carl Rushworth, with one of Oliver Dovin or Ben Wilson likely moving on from Coventry.
Sky Blues owner Doug King is excited about the new campaign and believes his club have recruited well.
Speaking to Radio 4 on Friday morning, he said: “When a club is promoted they need to reset their quality of players to go with what has got them there in the first place.
“We have tried to do that, to bring in the quality that will allow us to compete. We had to get our squad setup and I feel we had a good summer for that so I am feeling happy that we recruited really well.”
