Arsenal will have to pay big money if they wish to take chief scout Sebastian Krug from Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners are reportedly keen to take him to the Emirates Stadium as they look to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League and take the next step in the Champions League.

Krug has built up a positive reputation around Europe for his work at Dortmund. He was key in deals that saw both Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham arrive at the club.

Sky Germany reports that talks over a potential move to Arsenal have already taken place in London, with the club determined to complete the appointment, which will see him link up with sporting director Andrea Berta.

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club interested, with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also mentioned. But it’s not just the competition that Arsenal will have to overcome, with Bild reporting that Dortmund are determined to keep a key member of their backroom staff.

It’s said that those in charge at Dortmund have not yet officially been made aware of the interest, and are therefore ‘relaxed’.

It’s added that clubs would have to offer a ‘financially exorbitant’ amount to convince the club to let Krug go.

Arsenal will be looking to repeat the move that saw them appoint Sven Mislintat from the same club in 201, for a reported £1.8 million. He remained at the Emirates Stadium until February 2019.

He was involved in transfers which saw the likes of Bernd Leno, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Matteo Guendouzi, and Konstantinos Mavropanos arrive at the Emirates Stadium.

Mislintat has since had spells as sporting and technical director with Stuttgart and Ajax, before returning to Dortmund as technical director and head of scouting in 2024.

He was most recently the sporting CEO with Fortuna Düsseldorf but left the role this summer.

For Arsenal, the focus will be on closing the transfer window strongly as they look to defend their Premier League title. The Gunners have so far completed permanent deals for Piero Hincapie, Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes.
