Andoni Iraola has promised that Liverpool will make new signings before the summer transfer window closes, but which are the areas of the squad that Liverpool need to bolster most?
Left wing and right wing are the obvious priorities, with talks ongoing between Liverpool and PSG for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. Reports also indicate that the Reds have had a £50m bid for Yankuba Minteh rejected, although it’s my opinion that this is a smokescreen to place pressure on PSG regarding their asking price for Mbaye.
Then there’s the midfield. Curtis Jones is heading to Inter Milan, and even before he leaves, there’s the feeling that Iraola needs another midfielder to contend with the volume of games heading his way, but one more midfielder will definitely be needed if Jones is sold.
Right back also continues to enter ‘squad depth’ debates between fans online, even if Ronald Araujo can play to a good level there. However, I would much rather see a specialist right-back signed instead.
Liverpool will make more signings this summer
Speaking to Andoni Iraola in an exclusive interview for Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher asked the question that fans all want to know the answer to: will Liverpool sign any more players?
The Spanish coach replied: “We will definitely sign some players. Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1. Because it is true that we are still quite thin.”

Which four players would I love to see Liverpool sign before Deadline Day?
Barcola and Mbaye obviously, but exclusively signing the PSG duo would not be enough to provide the quality and depth that Liverpool need to start the 2026/27 Premier League season with the confidence required.
In midfield, I remain desperate to see Adam Wharton signed from Crystal Palace, although his £100m asking price makes this incredibly unlikely.
Then, at right-back, I’ve liked what I’ve seen while doing some research on Hector Fort since Liverpool were first linked with a loan move for the 20-year-old.
These four signings would go a long way to increasing the depth and quality available to Iraola for the season ahead.
