Blackburn Rovers face Middlesbrough in the Championship this weekend as they look to build on a promising performance in their opening day draw at Wolves. Rovers have done any business since the opening day, but they now look set for a sale.
The Athletic are reporting that Blackburn have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sell Igor Tyjon. The Gunners have been chasing Tyjon for several windows now and have finally got their man, with the forward due for a medical before the weekend.

The 18-year-old had pushed for the move in recent days, demanding to be deregistered in the process. Several contract offers have been made by Rovers to make his scholarship a professional deal, but they have been unsuccessful with Arsenal the move he wanted.
Igor Tyjon transfer saga finally ends for Blackburn Rovers
Tyjon has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his time in the Blackburn Rovers academy, impressing at various age groups before becoming a regular for the club’s U21 side.
Last season, he scored four goals and provided two assists in 10 Premier League 2 appearances, having also found the net four times the previous campaign while featuring in National League Cup matches for Rovers’ U21s.
The forward has also represented England at several youth levels, highlighting the regard in which he is held both at Ewood Park and beyond. His first Championship appearance for Blackburn Rovers came against Bristol City at just 16 years and 178 days old.
It is therefore disappointing to see how Tyjon’s situation has developed, particularly given the clear pathway from the academy into the first team at Ewood Park. Questions will inevitably be asked over whether the current saga is entirely down to the forward himself, or whether those advising and representing him have played too significant a role.

The Verdict: Tony Mowbray could have been ideal for Igor Tyjon
Although Tyjon looks poised to leave, Blackburn Rovers’ young players should be excited by Tony Mowbray’s appointment. The returning boss has long been praised for his work with academy players and his willingness to hand them first-team opportunities.
Tyjon would be well placed to push for a breakthrough if he stays, although an exit currently appears the most likely outcome.
Even so, several of his U18 and U21 teammates could be in line for opportunities under Mowbray. Pre-season should provide them with chances in friendlies, potentially paving the way for a first-team role in the 2026/27 campaign or a move out on loan to gain senior experience.
