Chelsea have rejected an approach from Crystal Palace for Josh Acheampong as the Blues prepare to send Axel Disasi to Selhurst Park instead.
Palace have been searching for another centre-back following Maxence Lacroix’s move to Stamford Bridge and explored whether Acheampong could become part of their defensive rebuild.
Chelsea’s response was emphatic.
The Guardian reports that Palace approached Xabi Alonso’s side over a potential move for the England Under-21 international, but Chelsea were unwilling to allow him to leave.
Palace have subsequently agreed a loan deal for Disasi, who is expected to undergo his medical on Friday.

Josh Acheampong Chelsea stance becomes clear
Chelsea’s decision offers another indication of Acheampong’s position within Alonso’s changing defensive hierarchy.
The 20-year-old impressed throughout pre-season and produced one of his standout displays against AC Milan earlier this month.
ReadChelsea highlighted how Acheampong dealt with Rafael Leao during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory, providing further evidence that he is ready to compete for significant first-team minutes.
Other defenders are being treated differently.
ReadChelsea reported on Thursday that Chelsea had reached an agreement with Palace over Disasi, with the France international heading towards a season-long loan without an option to buy.
Mamadou Sarr has also been made available for a permanent transfer, while Aston Villa have shown interest in Tosin Adarabioyo.
Acheampong could easily have become another young player sent elsewhere to find regular football.
Chelsea have instead turned Palace away.
Alonso still needs to reduce a crowded centre-back department before the transfer window closes, but Chelsea’s response to Palace provides a significant clue over which side of that reshuffle Acheampong currently sits.
Disasi is being allowed to leave.
Acheampong is not.
