Out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is ‘an option’ for Getafe, but there are other sides also still in the mix for his signature.

Bajcetic began his football journey at Celta Vigo’s youth system, then in 2020, Liverpool snapped him up to bolster their academy’s midfield.

He made rapid progress at Anfield and was quickly picked out as a top talent.

The 21-year-old made his Reds debut in 2022, in a 9-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League, but since then his progress has stalled at Anfield.

In order to find regular game time at the top level, Bajcetic was sent out on loan to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and Spanish outfit Las Palmas.

The Spanish midfielder missed the entirety of last season as he was recovering from hamstring surgery.

It was suggested in July that Bajcetic was ‘negotiating his departure’ from Anfield, and several clubs in Spain have been monitoring his situation in England.

Getafe have appeared to be strongly placed to pick up Bajcetic this summer, however it is not certain he will join the Spanish club.

According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, the Liverpool midfielder is just ‘an option’ for the Spanish side.

It has been suggested that apart from Getafe, Celta Vigo and another unnamed club are also keen to sign Bajcetic this summer transfer window.

With time now quickly running out in the transfer window, Bajcetic will want to get a resolution to his future as soon as possible.

Getafe finished a lofty seventh in La Liga last season and would likely be an attractive prospect for the Liverpool midfielder.

Liverpool are set to see a midfield departure soon as England international Curtis Jones is set to leave and join Italian giants Inter Milan.

He has arrived in Italy to put the finishing touches to a £25m switch to the Nerazzurri.
