**Earlier this summer, the likes of Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate departed Liverpool.**
The former two were part of the club’s leadership group, while Konate was expected to step up if he signed a new deal with the club.

“I had one season with Neto at Bournemouth and then you have to use a different player that can act as a captain and it’s not viable.
“But I wanted to let him know he is valuable, so I explained that Alisson. He is a goalkeeper.”
This is what everyone expected, as Gomez and Alisson are among the longest-serving players at the club, while Szoboszlai’s performances for club and country over the past 18 months have proved that he’s worthy of a leadership role at Liverpool.
