Arsenal continue to be patient in the summer transfer window amid their interest in Julian Alvarez

Arsenal have remained alive in the transfer window to the opportunity of signing Julian Alvarez football.london understands. The player’s preference has been to make a switch to Barcelona and made his feelings clear during the World Cup that he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid.
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are both believed to be massive fans of Alvarez and would love to see the player in the red and white of Arsenal. Similarly to Vinicius Junior, the club view the forward as a marquee option which they are willing to invest big money to make happen.
However, similarly with Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola, the club have a valuation of every player. Atletico have suggested they would not part with Alvarez for even €200million (£171million) which is already a figure far higher than anything the Gunners would be willing to spend.

The club have been patient throughout the window, aware of the lack of feasible options to guarantee a pushing of the quality needle in the front line from what they already possess. football.london understands that the hope has been that the market might indeed develop and open a door for a player such as Alvarez for them to attack; that said, so far, it has not done so sufficiently.
Alvarez is viewed as a player who would help elevate the club to that next step. Arteta has been vocal throughout the transfer window since winning the Premier League to evolve the squad, including making some tough choices.
Alvarez’s ability to play on the left flank, which he has done for his country, is seen as another benefit. His arrival would raise questions over the role of the current centre-forwards, Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz, in the manager's ongoing plans.
Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli remain players who could leave the club this summer, which could provide further financial reinforcement. Yet there is a reluctance to allow the latter to leave without securing a strong replacement, ideally an upgrade, on the 25-year-old.
With less than a fortnight remaining in the transfer window, the clock is ticking on Arsenal’s chances of signing a forward. football.london understands that Kenan Yildiz is another player the club appreciates highly, although he too would need convincing to make a switch, as would Juventus, who have already knocked back an enquiry from the Gunners earlier this year.
