Andoni Iraola has been speaking to a bunch of media outlets across England as he aims to oversee his first Premier League game in charge of Liverpool.
The Spaniard oversaw a pre-season in which the Reds blew hot and cold, although they finished on a high with a 2-0 win against Como.
Jeremy Jacquet made his debut in that game as Anfield got a glimpse of the French international in action.
And the young defender didn’t do his reputation any harm as he delivered an imperious performance at the back and capped it off with a goal in the first half.
Jacquet is expected to start alongside Virgil van Dijk vs Newcastle United, and Iraola feels the Frenchman has set quite the standard with his debut vs Como.

Speaking to TNT Sport ahead of the game against the Magpies, the Spaniard urged the Liverpool faithful not to get ahead of themselves with Jacquet, who is still getting to grips with the Premier League.
“I think he had such a good first game that it’s almost dangerous!
“We will put the level there for him [gestures up high], ‘this is your level and this is what we expect from every game.’

“But I think it’s good because he hadn’t played a game since February. So he played his first 45. I think he also finished in a good place. He scored a goal in front of the fans at Anfield. That is always special, your first game at Anfield.
“I’m very happy for him and now we wish he can continue and he can grow. We know he will make mistakes. He is very young, new in the Premier League. We have to accept this. But we trust him.”
Ronald Araujo also made his debut vs Como in the second half and fared quite well. He is expected to be on the bench on Sunday, with Jacquet and Van Dijk playing at the heart of Liverpool’s backline.
