Everton have two bids for Guela Doue rejected by Strasbourg

Everton have had two separate bids for Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue turned down, according to our friends at EFC Home, with the two clubs still some distance apart on valuation.

Everton and Strasbourg are said to disagree over a fee in the region of £40m — the same price tag that’s been attached to Doue for months and one Everton have previously baulked at.

The 23-year-old remains Moyes’ priority target for the right-back spot left vacant by Seamus Coleman’s departure, and two rejected bids show Strasbourg have no intention of moving off their number.

There’s competition to factor in, too, with PSG previously credited with interest in Doue.

EFC Home report that interest isn’t currently expected to advance — good news for Everton for now, though the World Cup exposure Doue’s had could easily bring other suitors back into the picture.

One thing working in Everton’s favour: Doue is understood to want a move to the Premier League, which puts them a step ahead of anyone chasing him from elsewhere in Europe.

Everton go into tomorrow’s Palace opener still without a specialist right-back, with Jake O’Brien or Merlin Rohl expected to continue there in the meantime.
