Liverpool may begin the 2027/28 season with a new kit sponsor, while Andoni Iraola has named as many as three new vice-captains.
Standard Chartered’s last season as Liverpool sponsor?
According to Sport Business, Liverpool are now “free to talk to other brands” regarding their shirt sponsorship in 2027/28.
That’s because Standard Chartered’s “exclusive negotiation window” has now “lapsed” without them tabling a renewal offer.
It is claimed that the bank’s current 16-year relationship with Liverpool is in doubt because of its global F1 sponsorship that was signed in January.
The deal with Standard Chartered expires next summer, with the Reds’ chief commercial officer, Ben Latty, recently discussing the situation with The Athletic.

“We’re talking with them,” Latty said.
“Naturally, we speak to our incumbent partners about the future as well as speaking to other brands across the market.
“In terms of Standard Chartered, I don’t know what will happen at this point. We still have another year, and conversations are ongoing.
“Seventeen years (as Liverpool’s main shirt sponsor) is a long time, and it’s a great relationship. We’ll probably find out pretty soon what direction that’s heading.”
Wouldn’t exactly call that complete faith in continuing with Standard Chartered!

• Iraola has announced Alisson, Joe Gomez and Dominik Szoboszlai as his new Liverpool vice-captains, but has explained why Ali won’t wear the armband
• Liverpool are expected to make an improved offer for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, according to the reliable Lewis Steele
• Iraola says Liverpool will “definitely sign players” in the coming days, admitting that his squad is “quite thin” currently. Great to hear!
• But Liverpool’s head coach has failed to guarantee that Liverpool will sign a replacement for Curtis Jones, with Trey Nyoni potentially stepping up
• This Is Anfield understands that Liverpool “retain an interest” in Crystal Palace‘s Adam Wharton, despite Eagles manager Pierre Sage suggesting otherwise

More from This Is Anfield
This Is Anfield‘s contributors have predicted the Premier League season, with Peter Bolster picking two rival signings as the worst of the summer:
“Youri Tielemans or Bruno Guimaraes. The funny thing is, I think both of them will probably start really well.
“You’ll get the first month or two where everyone is saying how brilliant they are, the fans are buzzing and Sky Sports are telling us they’ve transformed the midfield.
“But over a full season, I think both signings could end up slowing their teams down and leaving them more vulnerable.
“They’re both very good players- I just don’t think either signing necessarily gives those teams what they actually need and will inevitably weaken their structure.”

On this day in 2004, Liverpool beat Man City at Anfield, in Rafa Benitez‘s first home Premier League game in charge.
It was a bad start for the Reds, who went behind to a Nicola Anelka goal, only for Milan Baros and Steven Gerrard to turn things around.
Richard Dunne was sent-off for City, which helped.
But on this day in 2000, it was Liverpool whose discipline let them down, with both Didi Hamann and Gary McAllister seeing red in a 2-0 loss at Arsenal.
Patrick Vieira was also given his marching orders for the Gunners – there’s something about this day in history and red cards!
