The Charlotte Hornets posted a half-hour video of behind-the-scenes footage from the team’s offseason on YouTube today. They promoted the video on X by posting a brief clip that includes the revelation that they framed the net from their Play-In win over the Miami Heat.
Unsurprisingly, a framed Play-In net is the exact kind of thing that people were ready to laugh about. The fact that the Hornets basically removed all context themselves before they put it on social media is probably the most surprising part of this story. Though based on the reactions, it’s not more surprising than framing a net from a Play-In game.

The Hornets just framed the PLAY IN net vs the Miami Heat 💀
This is one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen a franchise do.
I don’t even think the Kings would snoop down to this level 😭 https://t.co/TQMuNwudIP pic.twitter.com/IADDMY3FTI

If you go and watch the full video, you’ll see that the framed net is given to Coby White while the team is celebrating his re-signing over the summer. Everyone in the room laughed, so they probably know how silly it sounds. Having said that, White gave the fans in Charlotte their first postseason moment in a decade when he hit a tough fadeaway to force overtime against the Heat.

White was excellent for the Hornets last season averaging 15.6 points in just 19.3 minutes a night. He came off the bench in 21 games for the Hornets last season. During the offseason he signed a three-year, $74 million contract to stay in Charlotte. White will replace LaMelo Ball as the starting point guard this season.
In the Play-In against Miami he scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, including the three-pointer that forced overtime. That moment was undeniably awesome and absolutely worth remembering.
It’s not like the Hornets are hanging it in the arena. Turns out they were just doing something nice for a player.
