Brighton have rejected Liverpool’s second offer for winger Yankuba Minteh, with the south-coast club seeking a fee closer to £70 million for the 22-year-old.
Just over 24 hours after the news of Liverpool’s first £50 million bid for Minteh, a second unsuccessful offer has now been widely reported.
The Athletic‘s David Ornstein is among those to reveal that a proposal worth in the region of £60 million was turned down on Friday.
Brighton have however indicated that they are likely to do business for “closer to” £70 million, and the Mail‘s Lewis Steele has suggested on X that a deal could be done for £66 million.
While Ornstein adds that it “remains to be seen whether Andoni Iraola’s side return with an improved approach,” Fabrizio Romano writes on X that talks are ongoing.

Romano claims that personal terms are already agreed with Minteh and Liverpool are “optimistic” of securing a deal for the Gambia international.
If Minteh does make the move to Anfield, as now appears likely, he would be in addition to leading target Bradley Barcola, rather than an alternative.
Liverpool are hopeful of bringing in two wingers before the transfer deadline on September 1, with Minteh seemingly ahead of Paris Saint-Germain‘s Ibrahim Mbaye for the right-sided target.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler hinted the club would be open to a sale.
“That’s part of our identity, part of my job here,” he explained.
“It was clear for everyone that this might happen during a busy transfer window.
“We can go through now every individual player, we all know how important these kinds of players are for me.

“So we have to wait now, the situation will evolve.
“I’m not here to complain, I’m here to find solutions and I’m convinced that, together with my players, we will find good solutions.”
