Arsenal have been presented with a dream transfer scenario for Julian Alvarez after Barcelona's move for Lautaro Martinez, which could impact Gabriel Martinelli. Inter Milan have been linked to the Brazilian, who could end up replacing Martinez if he joins Barca as it is not looking likely they sign Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners have also been strongly linked with a move for Alvarez but Barcelona remained his dream club. Diego Simeone's side have no plans to sell to their Spanish rivals, despite Alvarez's stance on the move.
He did not feature in their La Liga opener earlier this week having been a late returner from the World Cup. Simeone was asked about his future ahead of the game but reiterated the message from above that he is not for sale.

Multiple reports have suggested otherwise, however, with a meeting held in London between Atletico director Mateu Alemany and club chiefs at Arsenal to discuss a potential deal for Alvarez, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He did also state that Atletico's asking price is too high and that Alvarez would prefer a move to Barcelona. It has been claimed elsewhere that he is at least open to joining the Gunners and the Catalan giants looking at other targets could further the likelihood of a return to the Premier League.

Martinez of Inter is seemingly their top alternative with it being reported by El Chiringuito that his agent, Alejandro Camano, struck an agreement in principle over a potential contract for him at Barca.
The Italian champions have also been looking at incomings with Martinelli on their shortlist of potential attacking additions, with reports claiming that the club are 'swooping in' for a deal.. He recently rejected a move to Galatasaray but would likely be far more open to joining Inter if a formal approach was made.
Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal

He and Ethan Nwaneri were left out of the Arsenal squad for the Community Shield with uncertainty surrounding their futures. The latter has since been made available for loan over a permanent exit.
Martinelli meanwhile, could move on for a sizeable fee which would in turn help Arsenal's financial books given he is now classified as a homegrown player while also bringing in funds to sign a new attacker, resulting in a dream scenario for the club.
Having missed out on Vinicius Jr and Morgan Rogers, Alvarez looks to be their top target with Bradley Barcola favouring a move to Liverpool if he departs Paris Saint-Germain.
