Reece James has already established himself as one of the best to come through the Chelsea academy system, and supporters believe they could have his ‘clone’ in the making already.
James followed in John Terry’s footsteps by becoming an academy graduate who would go on to captain the first team squad, and is set to be a crucial player for Xabi Alonso.
It was Frank Lampard who gave the 26-year-old his first opportunity in the side, and it soon became clear that he was the answer to who would play right-back for a number of years.
Chelsea fans think there is a ‘Reece James clone’ in the academy
Chelsea take plenty of pride in the youngsters they develop, and Riley Ebho looks to be one of the latest that is impressing for the Under 18s.
After bringing him in from West Ham, he is now thriving for the young Blues, and Chelsea fans believe the club have another James on their hands.

Commenting on social media on a compilation of Ebho’s performance against Norwich, one user said: “Why does it feel like I am watching Reece James?? Even the nonchalant gimmick under pressure?”
Another added: “We cloned Reece James.”
A third stated: “Physicality, composure, speed, crossing + nonchalant gimmick. Its uncanny to see how much he resembles Reece. Riley Ebho seems like a top top talent. Loan him to Wigan next season, let me see something.”
Finally, one user claimed: “The next Cobham Gem. Watch out for the new Reece James. Riley Ebho.”
Where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League in 2026/27?
Let's hear how you think Xabi Alonso will get on this season…
Who is Riley Ebho?
At just 17 years of age, the future is bright for Ebho, who has started the season in the U18 Premier League with a 3-2 defeat to Norwich.
He joined the club in 2025 from West Ham, and has made an impact on the international stage already as well as at club well.
Ebho racked up 11 appearances for the England U16s, and will no doubt have his eye on taking to the pitch at more senior levels.
James will not be looking to give up his spot in the side anytime soon, however Chelsea fans will be thrilled to know they have yet another promising talent in the academy right now.
