Liverpool have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh after seeing a second improved offer rejected.
The Reds are looking to strengthen their attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure, but Brighton have turned down a £60million package for the 22-year-old.

Andoni Iraola’s side had previously seen a £50million bid for Minteh turned down. Minteh is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a right leg injury sustained during Brighton’s 3-0 friendly win over AS Roma.
He is expected to be out for two to three months. The Gambia international joined Brighton from Newcastle in 2024 and recorded three goals and four assists in 36 appearances last season.
Despite the latest rejection, Minteh has reportedly agreed to join Liverpool. According to Ben Jacobs, Manchester City are also admirers of Yankuba Minteh but have yet to make an approach.
Manchester City could look to sign a replacement for Savinho after Tottenham agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian for an initial £75million, with a further £10million possible in add-ons.
Savinho is set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with Spurs. The 22-year-old made just seven Premier League starts last season and asked to leave City in search of regular first-team football, according to boss Enzo Maresca.
“It’s quite clear when players want to leave, for any reason, then it’s complicated to convince them to stay or change their thoughts,” said Maresca.
“It happened with Rodri, the same thing is happening with Savinho – since day one he asked me that he wants to leave. So now we are waiting.”
Maresca added: “When the player is thinking they need a new challenge or want to change – because they want probably to go back to Spain, or play more minutes… it’s complicated to convince them to stay.”
Savinho’s arrival will take Tottenham’s summer spending beyond £300million, although they have recouped around £140million from the sales of Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Luka Vuskovic.
