Arsenal started their Premier League title defence in perfect fashion, with a 3-0 win over Frank Lampard-coached Coventry City at Emirates Stadium.

They shot out of the blocks, leading 2-0 by the 22nd minute via Kai Havertz and Bukaya Saka.

Mikel Arteta’s 150th win in charge of Arsenal, the fifth quickest to reach that milestone, was sealed by Martin Odegeaard in the second half.

“You have got to take into account psychologically Arsenal having won the title, are playing with a lot of swagger,” Premier League legend Jamie Carragher observed on Sky Sports.
