COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Senior NBA Insider for NBA on Prime and The Association on NBATV, Chris Haynes reported Friday afternoon that the Nuggets intend to sign DeMar DeRozan.
This comes after Denver lost Peyton Watson in a sign and trade to the Cavaliers earlier this week.
On X Haynes writes,
“DeMar DeRozan has been in conversations with Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray and is anxious for the opportunity to play for a contending team, sources say. Denver adds another veteran clutch bucket-getter.”
The 37-year-old guard was a restricted free agent after playing for the Sacramento Kings for the last two seasons.
He’s also played for the Raptors, Spurs and Bulls.
DeRozan was a lottery pick in the 2009 NBA Draft picked 9th overall by the Raptors. He is a 6X NBA All-Star, 2X All-NBA 2nd Team and was once named to the All-NBA 3rd Team.
Last season DeRozan started 77 games where he averaged 32 minutes on the floor, 18 points per game, shot 50% from the field and even better, 32% from three point range.
73% of DeRozan’s shots came in the mid-range area where he also shot 50%.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports his deal with the Nuggets is one-year, worth $3.9 million.
