Chelsea have rejected Leeds United’s opening proposal to sign Mykhailo Mudryk on loan, but talks remain ongoing over a potential move to Elland Road.
The Ukraine international has already accepted that a temporary departure could be the best next step as he attempts to rebuild regular playing time following his return to football this summer.
Leeds have now become one of the most concrete options.
The Sun reports that Leeds’ first offer fell short of Chelsea’s expectations, with the Blues continuing to assess several possible destinations in England and abroad.
talkSPORT also reports that negotiations are continuing despite Chelsea rejecting the initial approach.

Mykhailo Mudryk Leeds talks continue after rejection
The development represents significant progress from Chelsea’s position earlier this month.
ReadChelsea reported on 11 August that Mudryk had agreed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan, with the winger understood to favour another Premier League club over Chelsea’s BlueCo partner Strasbourg.
Leeds now offer exactly that possibility.
Chelsea are not short of alternatives, however.
The Sun reports that Coventry City are interested and Brentford have renewed their admiration for Mudryk after previously tracking him during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Brentford’s position comes with a complication because they would prefer a permanent transfer, whereas Chelsea’s current plan is understood to favour a loan.
Strasbourg remain another possible destination, although Chelsea have only one overseas loan place available there and Dario Essugo could also require it.
That leaves Chelsea with a decision extending beyond simply accepting the highest offer.
