Liverpool are very likely to sign Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, according to The Athletic reporter Andy Naylor.
The website’s Seagulls correspondent has excellent contacts at the Amex, and posting on X before the Reds submitted their second bid for the 21-year-old, he said that the Reds “are not far away” from agreeing a fee:
“On transfers, Minteh (to Liverpool) and Baleba (to Man Utd) will probably both end up happening, as the offers (50m and around 60m) are not that far away from making sense.”
“Big profits again and moves to big clubs for players given game time + developed. That’s the model.”
What is the latest on Minteh’s move to Anfield?
At the time of writing, Liverpool have not agreed a fee with Brighton, having had a second offer worth £60m rejected. However, it is believed that a third proposal closer to £70m would be accepted.
Some fans will baulk at that figure, considering that Minteh is currently injured and the fact that he struggled for consistency last season.
However, he is a prized commodity – a left-footed right winger. You only have to look at Tottenham’s decision to pay up to £85m for Manchester City’s Savinho to see how crazy the market is.

What does this mean for Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola?
It is believed that talks with Paris Saint-Germain are ongoing. The plan is to sign both the French international and Minteh, adding them to the club’s current wide options – Victor Munoz, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Federico Chiesa.
Gakpo could still leave for Spurs, especially if the deal for Barcola is finalised, but the arrival of Minteh would probably end the Reds’ interest in Ibrahim Mbaye.
The 18-year-old’s price tag is said to be close to that of Minteh’s, and the decision has been made to go after the Brighton star instead, most likely due to his Premier League experience. He would be the club’s fourth summer addition after Munoz, Jeremey Jacquet and Ronald Araujo.
