As FC Barcelona prepare to face Elche this Sunday in their first La Liga match of the season, La Liga’s website now confirms squad numbers for their recent signings.

Rodri will wear #16, Anthony Gordon will wear #17, and Karim Adeyemi will wear #14. In addition, Andreas Christensen will wear #15 after signing a new contract.

João Cancelo still has not been listed on the website, though it is expected he will wear #2 as he did last season. Jesse Bisiwu, another new signing, will have a B team squad number.

Fermín López vacated the #16 shirt and will now wear #7, previously worn by Ferran Torres. “It makes me a bit sad to give up the number 16 because it had a special place in my heart after these seasons with the first team. But I’m sure it will be in good hands,” the midfielder said previously.

Gordon has taken over the #17 from Marc Casadó, who has not left yet, but is considered on his way out of Barça. Casadó has no number as things stand.

Appearing in La Liga’s website has previously been treated as unofficial confirmation that the players have been registered. Local media reports that Barça have successfully registered the new signings. This has been an issue in previous seasons due to lack of incoming revenue and Financial Fair Play controls. All signs to much smoother sailing this time around.
