Former All-Star tackles the 'not enough basketballs to go around' narrative with the 76ers image
Ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, the Philadelphia 76ers have one of the strongest starting lineups in the league. LeBron James and Jaylen Brown are set to give this team a boost with their star power and natural ability to carry teams to victory.
Of course, the problem that people are thinking about is that there might be too many mouths to feed. There are four total star-level players on the roster, while VJ Edgecombe also has the potential to become one. Now, people are fighting against this narrative building around the 76ers.
Gilbert Arenas comes to the 76ers' defense from a disingenuous narrative
It is normal to think about how five stars can work together and co-exist. However, that has been said for many LeBron-led teams in the past, and he finds ways to set the tone for the squad. James himself was not the first option on the Los Angeles Lakers, so he has become accustomed to not being the primary scorer.
Now that he is playing on the 76ers, he is playing with elite scorers like Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. All those players are capable of scoring over 27 points per game, but they will learn how to work together and share the ball.

That is a potential issue that people are talking about as a negative for this 76ers team. However, it is truly a strength, especially if the players learn that they don't have to be selfish.
With head coach Nick Nurse at the helm, they have a brilliant mind in charge, while LeBron is also a positive presence. Former All-Star Gilbert Arenas believes this should not be a problem for Philly.
"What is the problem, sir? Didn’t Jaylen Brown win a championship playing option two or three? Whatever it was, Batman, Robin, whatever it was, he understands: sit in a corner, swing, swing, swing, get it, and drive. He was successful doing that. He was an Eastern Conference Finals MVP doing that," Arenas said about the potential problems the 76ers could face.
Arenas makes a great point because all these players have high basketball IQ. They won't have much of a problem as long as they can keep playing well and learning the system that Nurse is trying to set up for his players who are ready to compete for a title.
