Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon after agreeing a deal worth up to £3million and the teenager reportedly completing his medical.
The Premier League champions have pursued the highly-rated 18-year-old across several transfer windows, with Blackburn previously rejecting multiple approaches.
That standoff has finally been broken.
The BBC reported on Friday that Arsenal and Blackburn had reached an agreement for Tyjon, allowing the England youth international to move towards completing his switch to north London.
Later reporting indicated that the forward had completed his medical ahead of the transfer being formally announced.

Igor Tyjon Arsenal deal ends lengthy Blackburn battle
Arsenal’s pursuit had become increasingly complicated earlier this week.
ReadArsenal reported that Tyjon had taken steps to push through his move after Blackburn rejected Arsenal’s previous bids.
The teenager had already declined the opportunity to sign professional terms at Ewood Park while Arsenal continued negotiations.
Those talks have now produced a breakthrough.
Standard Sport reports that Arsenal will pay £1m initially with a further £2m potentially due in add-ons.
An official announcement is expected early next week.
Tyjon is initially expected to play for Arsenal’s Under-21 side while also spending time training with Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.
The forward has already made three senior appearances for Blackburn and scored seven goals across 21 academy matches last season, according to BBC Sport.
Arsenal’s interest therefore appears to be focused on long-term potential rather than finding an immediate solution for Arteta’s attack.
The club have aggressively strengthened their youth recruitment operation while continuing to invest heavily at senior level.
