Chelsea are set to finally send Deivid Washington to Strasbourg after agreeing a deal worth around €10million plus bonuses, two years after a proposed €21m transfer between the BlueCo clubs dramatically collapsed.
The 21-year-old striker has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge since joining Chelsea from Santos in 2023 and spent last season largely with the Blues’ development squad.
Strasbourg reopened negotiations earlier this week, with ReadChelsea reporting that Chelsea had revived a move for Washington two years after the original deal fell apart.
Those negotiations have now reached their conclusion.
L’Equipe reports that Washington’s move to Strasbourg is effectively complete, with the Brazilian expected to sign in the coming hours for approximately €10m excluding bonuses.
His arrival in France has reportedly been delayed partly because his wife was giving birth.

Deivid Washington finally gets Strasbourg move
The transfer closes a particularly unusual BlueCo circle.
Strasbourg came close to signing Washington in August 2024 and were prepared to pay more than €21m, which would have represented a club-record transfer at the time.
However, L’Equipe reported that Chelsea ultimately cancelled that deal after negotiations broke down late in the window.
Washington remained a Chelsea player and subsequently spent time back on loan at Santos.
Two years later, Strasbourg are finally getting their man, although for roughly half the guaranteed fee discussed during the original negotiations.
Chelsea originally paid Santos around €16m for Washington in 2023 and tied him to a long-term contract running until 2030.
The forward made only limited progress towards becoming a regular member of Chelsea’s senior side, with the club now choosing a permanent solution rather than another temporary move.
Washington may not be the final Chelsea player heading to Alsace either.
L’Equipe adds that talks are advancing over Omari Kellyman, while Dario Essugo is also interested in joining Strasbourg on loan.
For Washington, however, a transfer first attempted two summers ago finally appears ready to become reality.
