Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been linked with a loan move to Leeds this summer, and this switch could actually be what revives his career at Stamford Bridge.
After nearly two years out with a suspension, Mudryk returned to the pitch during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
It was a great moment for the Ukraine international, who must have at times wondered if he would make it back in West London with all the uncertainty surrounding his situation.
Where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League in 2026/27?
Let's hear how you think Xabi Alonso will get on this season…
Mykhailo Mudryk loan to Leeds could save his Chelsea career
The best course of action is for him to go on loan now, with Leeds reportedly already making an offer to bring him in for the season.
Given the fact Daniel Farke got the best out of Leeds last season in a back three, he would be playing in a system that closely resembles Xabi Alonso’s, meaning he would not have to learn something completely new when he returns.

This may also give him the chance to learn the wing-back role, which could end up being the position Mudryk is used in most at Stamford Bridge under the Spaniard.
Alonso is already in the process of converting Pedro Neto to play there, assuming he stays at the club amid interest from Al-Hilal.
Mudryk’s electric pace and brilliant fitness which he has kept despite missing plenty of action lends itself well to the role, and playing time under his belt in that position will be crucial in his development.

Mudryk’s stance on move away
Despite clearly wanting his long-term future to be at Stamford Bridge, Mudryk is understanding that he could do with moving away to get regular minutes.
The Ukraine international wants to stay in the Premier League, rather than move somewhere like Strasbourg this summer.
Mudryk is actually open to the Leeds switch too, with them having a very positive transfer window already and high expectations for the upcoming season.
It will be a big season for Mudryk to try and work his way back into the Chelsea setup, but Elland Road could actually be the best place for him to do so.
