Everton will survive, says Richard Dunne, but it won't be to comfortable a season unless they dip further into the transfer market.

The former Toffee who joined the club straight from Home Farm’s schoolboy ranks thinks goals might be hard to come by.

"I went to Edinburgh and watched them play against Newcastle last week," he said.

"They played really, really well and they look like they could cause teams trouble, but they look like they need help. They need more players.

"They certainly need a centre-forward and they probably need a right-back but I think the midfield with Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, and Hackney looked really, really good.

"I just don't know what depth they have to the squad, that's the only thing I'd really worry about but, yeah, they're building something, and hopefully they can get a bit of investment."

There is also the idea that this is their second season in the Hill-Dickinson Stadium.

"I think the new ground will be beneficial to them over a period of time but it's going to take a little bit of time for all that money to flow through the club.

"I think at the moment it's still getting used to stuff and that it's a bit of a something new and flashy and stuff like that.

"Once they settle down, I think it might be the season after this, it will help them in the long run.”
