Liverpool have now seen a second bid for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected, with journalist Andy Naylor dropping an important new update.
The Gambian has emerged as a primary wide target in recent days, perhaps being seen as an alternative option to Paris Saint-Germain teenager Ibrahim Mbaye on the right wing.
Opinion appears to have been split among Liverpool fans about how much they want Minteh, with some rating him highly and others feeling his price tag is too high.
Now, writing on X, Naylor predicted that the 22-year-old will eventually become a Reds player this summer, citing Carlos Baleba’s move to Manchester United as a similar situation.

Can Yankuba Minteh fill Mo Salah void at Liverpool?
It does feel as though Liverpool have decided on Minteh as their right-sided option, unless they are simply trying to lure PSG into action, accepting an offer for Mbaye in the process.
There is plenty to like about the Brighton ace’s game, from blistering pace to quick feet, and former Netherlands midfielder Willem van Hanegem has lauded him in the past, saying:
“I’ve enjoyed him for a few games already. That guy is extremely dangerous with his pace. If I were Feyenoord, I would now cast my doubts if he could be rented from Newcastle United for another year.”
Minteh is still a raw player who can be erratic in the final third, however, which is perhaps why a section of Liverpool’s fanbase aren’t sold on him being the natural heir to Mohamed Salah.
That said, he is still two years younger than Salah was when he moved to Anfield from Roma back in 2017, so he has plenty of time to mature and turn into an elite winger.
If Liverpool can bring in Bradley Barcola on the left and Minteh on the right, Liverpool will suddenly have a huge injection of youth and threat from wide areas, which is essential.
Mbaye may be a stronger option on the right than Minteh, but the latter has proven himself in the Premier League, and Andoni Iraola could feel he can take him to a new level.
