Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been in contact with Julian Alvarez about a transfer to the Emirates Stadium. Reports from Spain have claimed the Gunners boss has been in communication with the Atletico Madrid forward.
Recent updates from the Spanish capital have also claimed the Argentine is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium. He was left out of Atletico's La Liga opener against Malaga, after Diego Simeone stated he was not in the right frame of mind to compete.
Alvarez has also been linked with a move to Barcelona, but Atletico have been reluctant to do business with the Catalans. Nevertheless, while the Camp Nou is believed to be his dream destination, a move to Arsenal is not off the agenda.
Reports from Diario AS have claimed Arteta has been in contact with Alvarez about a potential summer move to north London. Alvarez was recently whistled by his own fans during Atletico's opening league match of the new campaign.
When asked about Alvarez's future, after the hostilities that were directed at the forward, Simeone said: "We always aim to secure the best possible tools, just as we’ve always had. And, well, let’s hope we can assemble the best possible squad between now and the deadline."

Arteta has already bolstered his Arsenal squad significantly this season. Ezri Konsa was the most recent addition this summer, after he secured a £51million move from Aston Villa.
The Gunners' most significant addition of the summer was the £75million capture of Newcastle United skipper Bruno Guimaraes, who arrived after Piero Hincapie and Christos Tzolis were also brought in, with the former signing permanently from Bayer Leverkusen having spent last season on loan at the Gunners.

Before Arsenal overcame Coventry City 3-0 in the first match of their Premier League title defence, Arteta made it clear the Gunners are still in the hunt for new signings.
When asked about Konsa's arrival, the Arsenal manager said: "We needed one more player, we had seven players in the defensive line, we know that that's not enough. We have two long-term injuries, one with Jurrien (Timber), and one with Willy (Saliba).

"And we wanted someone that didn't have the qualities that we already have, so somebody ideally with experience, because as a centre-back in this league you cannot play jokes, we know how important that position is, and I think Ezri brings a lot of qualities that we needed."
Arsenal began their campaign in solid fashion. Goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Coventry at the Emirates Stadium.
