While Liverpool continues to negotiate a deal with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola, there is a "big gap" in the evaluation of the French winger between the two sides

Cody Gakpo's Liverpool future depends on how negotiations over winger Bradley Barcola between the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain go.
Liverpool has made Barcola its primary target this summer, with the Reds keen on adding him to their attacking options to provide some extra firepower up front. However, despite ongoing negotiations between the two teams, no breakthrough has been achieved.
It has been reported that Liverpool's latest bid to PSG was $158 million (£115 million), which the French side deemed insufficient. It has also been claimed that PSG has placed a $173 million (£128 million) price tag on Barcola, who is keen on making the switch from Paris to Liverpool.
Barcola's future will likely decide that of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo's, too.
The Dutchman is currently poised to start as Liverpool's primary option on the left wing heading into the new season. However, he has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.
Prior to Manchester United and Hull's clash on Saturday, The Athletic's David Ornstein appeared on TNT Sports to provide an update on the Barcola situation and its potential impact on Gakpo.
Speaking on the TNT Sports broadcast, Ornstein, who admitted there is a gap in Liverpool and PSG's evaluation of Barcola, said, "Liverpool are prioritizing him.
"No doubt about it. If they can get him in from PSG, then I think we'll see [Cody] Gakpo leave. If they don't get him in from PSG, they'll happily keep Gakpo.
"Iraola really likes him. It will all come down to the fee with PSG. And at the moment, the gap is too big."
That was not the only transfer update Ornstein provided regarding Liverpool, either, as he explained where the Reds stand on Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, for whom the Reds put in two bids on Friday, only for them to be swiftly rejected by the Seagulls.
Ornstein added: "It [Minteh's move] definitely stands a chance, but if the numbers are not right for Liverpool, I hear that they have another option that they're weighing up and that they could pivot to if it doesn't suit them with Minteh. I'm not ruling it out, of course.
"Brighton know he's a coveted talent, so they want ... £70 million ($95 million) in excess of with add-ons.
"I'm not sure Liverpool want to go quite that far ... I think he could go to a level we've not seen so far (at Liverpool).
"The injuries are a concern, but if you're so convinced by the talent, you could probably take the risk."
