Chelsea have rejected an opening loan proposal from Leeds United for Mykhailo Mudryk, but negotiations are understood to be continuing as the two Premier League clubs explore a potential deal before the summer transfer window closes.
According to reports, Leeds have made Mudryk one of their targets as they look to add further attacking quality to their squad. Their initial proposal, however, fell short of Chelsea’s expectations, with the Blues remaining open to a loan but unwilling to accept the terms offered.
The situation remains fluid, with Leeds reportedly keen to find an agreement. Chelsea are understood to favour a loan arrangement rather than a permanent sale, meaning the rejection of the first proposal does not necessarily signal the end of Leeds’ interest.
Mudryk’s future has become a major talking point after a lengthy period away from competitive football. The Ukrainian winger has recently returned to action and is now looking for an opportunity to rebuild his fitness and regain his place in the game.
The winger joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial fee reported at around £62 million, but has struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-team player at Stamford Bridge.
CHELSEA‘s crowded squad has made regular opportunities even harder to come by, while the club are continuing efforts to reduce the number of senior players available to head coach Xabi Alonso.

After such a prolonged absence from competitive football, regular minutes should be the priority. Remaining at Chelsea could leave Mudryk fighting for opportunities in an extremely competitive squad, whereas a move to Leeds could give him a clearer pathway to consistent first-team football.
The Premier League would also provide an ideal environment for Mudryk to prove that he can still produce at the highest level in English football. His pace and ability to attack defenders make him a potentially dangerous weapon, but he needs sustained playing time to rediscover his confidence and rhythm.
A successful loan could therefore benefit both Mudryk and CHELSEA. For the player, it represents a chance to restart his career. For Chelsea, a productive season could increase Mudryk’s value and potentially give the club a more attractive asset to either reintegrate or sell in the future.
