Paris Saint-Germain will begin their defence of the Ligue 1 title this weekend, with Luis Enrique’s side preparing to face Stade Rennais in their opening league fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.
The match will take place on Sunday, August 23rd.

However, the game will not be played at PSG’s usual home of the Parc des Princes after the pitch was deemed unsafe following damage caused by the recent extreme heatwave.
The fixture has instead been moved to Rennes’ Roazhon Park.
While the attention will naturally be on the beginning of another Ligue 1 campaign, PSG’s squad selection has provided another major talking point ahead of the fixture.
For the second time in the space of a week, two players heavily linked with moves away from the French capital have been left out of the squad.
Although they were present at training on Saturday morning, the two players (Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye), who are expected to leave, are not part of the Parisian group to face Rennes on Sunday (8:45pm), RMC SPORT has learned.
The latest omission comes as Liverpool continue to work behind the scenes in an attempt to reach an agreement before the transfer deadline.
Both players were previously omitted from PSG’s squad for their Trophée des Champions meeting with Lens last weekend, making their continued absences particularly notable.
With the new Ligue 1 season now underway and the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, PSG’s decision could provide further encouragement to Liverpool as they continue to monitor developments surrounding both players.
For Barcola in particular, attention will now turn towards whether Liverpool can finally get a deal over the line for one of the most talented up and coming stars on the planet.
