It’s no secret that late August and early September are slow times for the NBA. It’s also no secret that, if a topic is open for discussion about the Portland Trail Blazers, we’ve probably brought it up between the time Portland’s season ended in May and now.
Above all, though, we know that Blazer’s Edge Readers love debate and interesting subject to chew on.
That’s why, in addition to the normal coverage you expect from us—which will continue unabated, we’re going to give you some extra topics to talk about over the next month. We’re introducing the Blazer’s Edge Best Things Ever Tournament. It’s a bracket of 64 completely random things, chosen for no particular reason other than people might like them. They’re not related to each other. (Let’s face it, every Best Movie or Best Song of the 80’s bracket has been done already.) They’re just…stuff!
In each post, we’re inviting you to vote for ONE of the two things offered, registering your pick in the comments section below. We’ll tally up the votes in each post and see what moves on to the second round. Just like March Madness, when all is said and done, we’ll have one Best Thing Ever for 2026. If it catches on, we’ll do another bracket next summer. For now, just enjoy the debate and conversation!
We’ll probably run two posts a day. Today both of them are in the upper part of the site cover. Other days, watch for them just below this.
The contest in this post is between **ABBA** and **Macaroni and Cheese**.
ABBA, the Swedish supergroup from the 1970’s, gave us the ubiquitous dance-floor anthem “Dancing Queen”, plus plenty of other hits like “The Winner Takes it All” and “Fernando” and “Take a Chance on Me” and “Super Trouper” (sooop-pah-pah troop-pah-pah) and “Gimme Gimme Gimme a Man After Midnight”. And we didn’t even name half of them. Neither clubbing or relaxing road trips would be the same without them.
Macaroni and Cheese is not only a staple of southern American cuisine, it’s a comfort food for millions. Whether it comes in a blue box or is homemade with fancy cheese varieties, it never disappoints. All of our childhoods were better because of this delicious, creamy concoction.
So what will it be? ABBA or Mac and Cheese? Vote in the comments section below and good luck to the winner!
