2026 NFL Top 100: 2x MVP Winner Drops 13 Spots on List 1

Some players have seen a dip in their rankings on the 2026 NFL Top 100 list for many reasons. While some players dealt with injuries, others saw a decrease in their production as the previous season came to a close. One player is hoping his season-ending injury gave him a chance to have a stronger 2026. Let’s take a closer look at who it is and what it means for his 2026 NFL Top 100 ranking.

Patrick Mahomes may have suffered a season-ending injury to end his 2025 campaign, but he is still a top-20 player according to his peers. He fell 13 spots from his rankings a year ago to being 18th on the list. Below is what NFL’s Grant Gordon had to say about the two-time NFL MVP falling on the 2026 NFL Top 100 list:

“Statistically speaking, Mahomes had his worst season since becoming the Chiefs starter in 2018, which has translated to his lowest ranking amid his eighth season on the list. However, the equity he’s amassed within the NFL is evident as he lands in the top 20.

“Before he was sidelined with a torn ACL, Mahomes had already rushed for career bests in yards, touchdowns and yards per game (30.1). He also eclipsed 3,500 passing yards for an incredible eighth consecutive year and though his six QB wins were his lowest, it’s notable the Chiefs were 0-3 when he didn’t start, including losses to a pair of three-win squads.”

Mahomes had a step down in production as it was his first season as a starting quarterback where he failed to make the Pro Bowl. He played in 14 games before suffering a torn ACL. Mahomes completed 315 of 502 (62.7%) of his passes for 3,587 yards with 22 passing touchdowns to 11 interceptions. He would also run 64 times for 422 yards (6.6 yards per attempt) with five rushing touchdowns.

Below are the quarterbacks who have been named to the 2026 NFL Top 100 list up to this point:

The 2026 NFL Top 100 is a list of the top players in the league as voted on by the players themselves. Each weekday on social media, two names are announced until we reach the top 10 players remaining. At that point, only one name will be revealed until the entire list is posted on Friday, Sept. 4. It will be intriguing to see how many quarterbacks are ranked ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
